What it is
p‑tau217 is a protein in the blood that signals Alzheimer’s. A study of 337 people at seven European centers found that a dried finger-prick sample, mailed without refrigeration, closely matched a standard blood draw and picked up the Alzheimer’s changes seen in spinal fluid with 86 percent accuracy.
